By providing an environment of structure, the academy’s main goal is to create a learning environment in which all students can achieve academic excellence by understanding the importance of integrity, commitment, responsibility, self-discipline, confidence, and pride. Students are expected to have pride in themselves, understand the importance of integrity, commitment and hard work, and sharpen their leadership skills, while showing compassion and respect for others. |

Program HistoryThe Mulholland Middle School Junior Police Academy Magnet (M.J.P.A.) is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District (L.A.U.S.D.) voluntary Court-ordered integration program, drawing students from all over Los Angeles.
Established in 2000 as a non-magnet program, Mulholland Middle School Police Academy achieved magnet status, in the 2009-2010 school year. It is part of the Police Academy Magnet Schools (P.A.M.S.), which started in 1996. Through a partnership with the Los Angeles Police Department (L.A.P.D.), the P.A.M.S. program provides students/cadets with a career ladder into L.A.P.D.
Cadets have the opportunity to matriculate to one of the four (4) high schools that are part of P.A.M.S. within L.A.U.S.D. (Monroe HS, Reseda HS, San Pedro HS, & Wilson HS), and then continue on, in college through the Police Orientation and Preparation Program (P.O.P.P.) a collaborative between L.A.U.S.D., L.A.P.D., and L.A.C.C. (Los Angeles Community College).
