Welcome Back to School

July 29, 2025

Dear Mulholland Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year. We are so thrilled to have you join our vibrant learning community for the upcoming school year. For our returning families, welcome back! For those of you who are new to Mulholland, we extend a special greeting and look forward to getting to know you.

Our Continued Focus: Writing Across All Content Areas
This year, we will continue our dedicated focus on writing across all content areas. We believe that strong writing skills are fundamental to success in all subjects, from science and history to math and English. By integrating writing into every class, we aim to:

  • Deepen understanding: When students write about what they're learning, they solidify their comprehension of the material.
  • Enhance critical thinking: Writing encourages students to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information.
  • Improve communication: Effective writing is a vital skill for expressing ideas clearly and persuasively.

You can expect to see writing assignments, big and small, in every classroom. We'll be working on everything from taking effective notes and summarizing information to crafting well-structured essays and reports. We encourage you to talk with your child about their writing experiences and celebrate their progress throughout the year.

Important Dates for Our New 6th Graders
We know that transitioning to middle school can be an exciting time, and we've planned some special programs to help our new 6th graders feel prepared and confident:

•    6th Grade Summer Bridge Program: To help our incoming 6th graders get a head start, we're offering a Summer Bridge Program from August 4th to August 8th 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This program is a fantastic opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with the campus, meet some of their teachers and future classmates, and brush up on essential skills before the school year officially begins. More information about the specific daily schedule will be sent out next week.

•    6th Grade Orientation: This will be a chance for both students and parents to learn more about Mulholland, tour the campus, understand daily routines, and get answers to any questions you may have.
