Healthy Habits for Families - Parent Workshops

Katy Levinson, Healthy Start Student and Family Resource Navigators, will provide 8 weeks of interactive workshops for parents and caregivers to teach Healthy Habits for Families lessons with a focus on nutrition and physical activity. Topics will include food groups, recommended daily amounts and portion control, reading nutrition facts labels, creating healthy snacks and meals at home and importance of physical activity. Healthy Habits for Families emphasizes how self-empowerment leads to healthier lifestyle changes not only for individuals, but for their whole family.

All workshops will be held in the Parent Center from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Week #1: Wednesday, October 2 Goal Setting

Week #2: Thursday, October 10 Chronic Diseases

Week #3: Friday, October 18 Physical Activity

Week #4: Thursday, October 24 Food Groups & Obesity

Week #5: Friday, November 1 Mind & Body Connection

Week #6: Thursday, November 7 Nutrition Facts & Labels

Week #7: Friday, November 22 Budget Shopping

Week #8: Thursday, December 5 Parents in Action
